EUSFLAT Awards

EUSFLAT Scientific Excellence Award

In the general assembly celebrated on July 21, 2011, EUSFLAT launched the Scientific Excellence Award, an acknowledgement of research excellence within Europe (in a broad sense and including all EUSFLAT members even outside Europe). The nomination committee consists of the current and past EUSFLAT Presidents plus previously awardees.

In the general assembly celebrated on July 11, 2012, the committee composed by the current and past EUSFLAT Presidents (F. Esteva, L. Magdalena, U. Bodenhofer, and J. Montero) nominated Didier Dubois as the first EUSFLAT Scientific Excellence Award

"for his deep insight and vision which have triggered and cross-fertilized new research areas."
The committee composed by the current and past EUSFLAT Presidents (F. Esteva, L. Magdalena, U. Bodenhofer, and J. Montero) nominated Petr Hájek as the 2013 EUSFLAT Scientific Excellence Award

"for his enormous contribution to the formal logical foundations of fuzzy logics, fuzzy set theory, and fuzzy systems."
The committee members: the current EUSFLAT President and all past EUSFLAT Presidents (Francesc Esteva, Luis Magdalena, Ulrich Bodenhofer, Javier Montero and Gabriella Pasi) and previously awardee Didier Dubois nominated Bernadette Bouchon-Meunier as the 2017 EUSFLAT Scientific Excellence Award

"for her outstanding contributions to the theory and applications of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic and to her long time service to the fuzzy community in Europe."
The committee members: the current EUSFLAT President and all past EUSFLAT Presidents (Francesc Esteva, Luis Magdalena, Ulrich Bodenhofer, Javier Montero and Gabriella Pasi) and previously awardee Didier Dubois nominated Radko Mesiar as the 2017 EUSFLAT Scientific Excellence Award

"for his brilliant and inspiring contributions to the field of aggregation operators and mathematical foundations of fuzzy sets theory."

EUSFLAT Best PhD Thesis Award

During the EUSFLAT 2010 General Assembly, held in Dortmund, June 29, it was approved to establish two awards for the Best Ph.D. Thesis presented during each one of the two immediate complete years previous to each EUSFLAT conference. Therefore, with this call we encourage young researchers who got their PhD degree between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016, to apply to these awards.
